PROJECT

Founded on the bases of the Caribbean specificities,the OCEAN OBSERVATORY
project was created in 2001 in "Port de Plaisance du Marin, Martinique".
It is based on the creation of an information network relayed and shared
by scientific institutes, local populations, nautical tourists as well as
international media. OBJECTIVES This environmental watch aims at the emergence of a long lasting collective awareness, whose final objective is the protection of Cetaceans and marine ecosystem. The actions and plans of development that ensues are aimed towards the conservation of the natural patrimony, in due respect of environmental and economic resources of every island. Based on these considerations, the three main diretctions of the Ocean Observatory project have been define as followed: 1) Information and awareness. 2) Scientific research. 3) Creation of cetaceans observation network. |
