From space, the planet is blue
From space, the planet is the territory,
not of humans, but of the whale.

To get to know cetaceans in there natural habitat is a true challenge for today's scientists.
Their behaviour, social structure, communication and migration proved to be extremely complexe phenomenals, which intrigue and stimulate more and more research teams.

Studying methods have been developed in the last years, including the use of sophisticated equipments, particularly of "beacons" to follow movements and immersions, and hydrophones to study their sounds.

But essential tools in the researcher outfit have not changed:
a sailboat, a great deal of passion and many hours observing the Big Blue Sea…

The objectives of the study programs developed in the Caribbean Sea are:
Recording the species of cetaceans in the area
Understanding distribution and seasonal cycles
Understanding inter-islands movements and long migrations
Defining zones of interest for the threatened species
Evaluating the health state of this environment through stranding analysis
